South Molton Town Band
South Molton Town Band was formed in 1910 and has over recent years experienced the ups and downs of banding. Many of the players in the band today have been with South Molton Band for all of their playing career.
2006 , was a superb for the band, firstly achieving 4th place at the West of England Regional Contest in March, to place them back in the 2nd Section, as of 2007. The Band then competed at the Weston-Super-Mare Own Choice Contest in May and Bugle Contest in June on both occasions being awarded 1st Prize in the 3rd Section. At Bugle the band’s Solo Euphonium player Steve Potter was also awarded Best Soloist in the 3rd Section.
The Band is now in the enviable position of having an almost full compliment of players, although as with many bands the ability to attend is impaired by work commitments.
The Band rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 8pm – 10pm in the Bandroom which is located to the rear of the HSBC Bank, South Molton. Any players wishing to join will be made more than welcome.
